Animated GIF processing
Browser Canvas cannot fully re-encode animated GIFs. PixelPress preserves GIF output when keeping the format, or processes the first frame when converting to PNG, JPG, or WEBP.
GIF Compressor
GIF files are often used for animations, reactions, and short visual loops. PixelPress supports GIF upload and local processing while clearly explaining browser-based animation limits.
Browser Canvas cannot fully re-encode animated GIFs. PixelPress preserves GIF output when keeping the format, or processes the first frame when converting to PNG, JPG, or WEBP.
If you only need a cover image, preview thumbnail, or static reaction image, converting the first frame can create a much smaller file.
GIF files are not uploaded to a server. Reading, previewing, and downloading happen locally in the browser. Keep the page open while larger files process.
True animated GIF compression can be added later with dedicated encoders such as gifsicle WASM. The current version prioritizes local, safe, and easy processing.
PixelPress also supports PNG, JPG, JPEG, and GIF uploads for batch compression and before/after comparison.
